NPHL Coach of Year
Marcel Capelle
Dawson Creek Canucks

Capelle makes it 3 straight DC Coach-of-the-Year titles.

Dawson Creek Canucks’ coach Marcel Capelle, who led the Canucks to the Lawrence Cup title this season with the league’s best record at 17-1-0-2, won a close vote after receiving three of seven first place votes.
Capelle received 17 points while Ken Breland of the Valleyview Jets and Ron Cottrell of the Grimshaw Huskies tied with 13 points for second. Placing fourth was Terry Whillans of the Manning Comets with 11 points.

It was the third straight Coach-of-the-Year title for the Canucks and – incredibly- with three different coaches winning the award. Faron Duthie won in 2019-20 and Chris Stevens in 2018-19. They join Clint Switzer in 2001-02 as the only other Canucks to win the award.

Coupled with back-to-back Coach-of-the-Year wins for Fort St. John’s Andrew Leriger in 2016-17 and 2017-18, B.C. teams have won the last five Best Coach honours.
