There is a parking area near the entrance of Gwillim Lake Provincial Park, where you can see a great view of the mountains and lake. A plaque contains information on Mount Meikle and the basin below it that filled with water creating Gwillim Lake. As the information indicates "Two hundred million years ago, it was covered by a shallow open sea. Skeletal remains of marine life fell to the sea floor, gradually forming thick brittle beds of limestone and dolomite".
